Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads provides immediate relief from the burning and itching caused by hemorrhoid flare-ups. Tucks While Pregnant

Morning sickness, fatigue and weight gain are just a few of the unpleasant side effects pregnant women may experience. Unfortunately, many pregnant women also experience the itching, burning and uncomfortable effects of hemorrhoids. Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads provide immediate relief and have a gentle formula that contains witch hazel. Witch hazel soothes and protects irritated areas.

Witch hazel is a naturally derived compound extracted from the leaves and bark of the North American Witch-hazel shrub (Hamamelis virginiana). The extract, which has astringent and anti-inflammatory properties, is commonly used as an external treatment to soothe and relieve hemorrhoids, minor bleeding, and skin irritation.

During pregnancy, it can be comforting to know that you’re treating hemorrhoids with safe-to-use witch hazel. Something else you might want to know: Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads are pH balanced, hypo-allergenic and dye-free.

Tucks After Childbirth

With vaginal deliveries, unfortunately it is common for moms to experience swelling, pain, and soreness in the vaginal and rectal area after delivery. It can take several weeks for full recovery. Proper cleaning and care are important to help relieve perineal discomfort and also aides in healing and preventing infection. Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads can help. The witch hazel formula protects the skin and cools irritated areas. The pads are also pH balanced, hypo-allergenic and dye free to gently clean the sensitive area.

In addition to treating hemorrhoids, Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads can be used for perineal relief following childbirth, to reduce irritation, burning and itching in the rectal or vaginal area. Also, for cleansing and personal hygiene.

Treating Hemorrhoids with Tucks

First clean the affected area, ideally with mild soap and water, rinsing thoroughly and gently drying with toilet paper or a soft cloth. Apply the pad externally to the affected area. Alternatively, the pad can be folded and used as a moist compress for up to 15 minutes. Simply line a peri pad or sanitary napkin with a Tucks Medicated Cooling Pad.

Tucks Pads can be used anytime you need soothing relief from hemorrhoids, rectal pain or itching, or vaginal/perineal discomfort. Tucks Pads begin to provide relief from symptoms on contact.

To treat the full range of hemorrhoid symptoms you may want to consider Tucks Multi-Care Relief Kit which contains two complementary products: Tucks Pads and Max Strength 5% Lidocaine Cream for strong rectal irritation. The Lidocaine in the Cream has a strong analgesic effect that can help with severe hemorrhoid pain while promoting healing and protecting skin from rubbing. The Cream also contains calming colloidal oatmeal.

About Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are swollen veins and tissue in the rectum. There are two types: Internal hemorrhoids occur inside the anal canal and external hemorrhoids appear near the opening of the anus.

Hemorrhoids develop because of pressure in the rectal area which can be caused by different factors including straining during bowel movements, sitting for long periods of time on the toilet and weight gain during pregnancy. Additionally, pregnant women are also prone to hemorrhoids after delivery due to the pushing and strain during childbirth.

Many ask, “how long do hemorrhoids last?” Mild flare-ups will only last 3-4 days. Severe cases may last for several weeks to months before they are completely healed. Unfortunately, there is no cure for hemorrhoids. It is a chronic issue, and they will most likely reoccur. But with proper care you can manage flare-ups. Many manage hemorrhoids with safe, gentle Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads and/or get additional care with the Tucks Multi-Care Relief Kit.

Preventing Hemorrhoids

Here are a few tips to help get relief or prevent hemorrhoids:

  • Eat a well-balanced diet with plenty of fiber and drink lots of water to avoid constipation… also get as much exercise as possible
  • When having a bowel movement, don’t strain… and try not to wait when you have the urge to go the bathroom. After every bowel movement, thoroughly clean the affected area
  • Avoid sitting or standing for long periods of time to take the pressure off the rectal area and increase blood return from the lower half of your body… if possible, get up and move around every hour
  • For women doing daily Kegel exercises can help. Kegels increase circulation in the rectal area and strengthen the muscles around the anus, decreasing the chance of hemorrhoids
  • If a problem develops, other than using a medicated pad like Tucks, you can also try applying ice packs to the swollen area, or soak in a warm tub of water or a sitz bath for several minutes… after every bowel movement, thoroughly clean the affected area with soft, unscented toilet tissue
  • If you are not getting any relief or if the condition worsens, speak with your doctor
